DAYLIGHTING, VIEWS AND PRIVACY: FRAMELESS CONFERENCE ROOMS

Video: Maman Corp., General Contractor and Installer.

Optimizing the use of existing space was a priority in remodeling the administrative offices of this company, a global leader in their industry with operations in more than 170 countries.

To develop the clean, modern and flexible solution the client wanted for their conference rooms, architects Powers Brown Architecture  worked closely with the general contractor, Maman Corp. They chose Panelite Bonded Series translucent honeycomb panels for an elegant aesthetic that provides privacy while allowing ample daylight and directional views. Maman Corp. recommended Klein for a high-quality, minimal frameless sliding door system. The integration of the 1″ Panelite panels into a system designed for 3/4″ glass initially seemed daunting, but the installation team at Maman welcomed the challenge and pushed for a creative solution, collaborating with Panelite and Klein on a custom detail.  That detail is now available to other clients wishing to use Klein’s frameless system with our translucent panels.

This application makes excellent use of the directional views provided by honeycomb core technology. From the exterior, the smoke color of the facings emphasizes reflections and only partial views are possible. From the interior, visual transparency is increased and those in the conference room have ample views outward.
