VIDEOS: INSTALLATION OF BONDED SERIES PANELS
These video clips were taken onsite at the Westfield offices in Los Angeles.
ONSITE TRIMMING OF PANELS
Bonded Series Panels B-RCYT (Random Core with Yellow Transparent facings) were delivered pre-fabricated, with ClearConnect BF-ITL1 interlocking joints. Panelite recommended ordering the end panels slightly longer than shown in the drawings. The installation team trimmed them to size using simple woodworking tools after confirming all the measurements for the conference room.
RECESSED CHANNELS AND FLUSH GLAZED PANELS
The design used recessed channels at the bottom and top of the conference room walls. At only 80 lbs per full sized sheet, Panelite panels can be carried by hand and installed without lifts or specialized equipment.
CONNECTING PANELS USING BF-ITL1 JOINTS – NO CAULKING REQUIRED
With the ClearConnect™ system interlocking joint BF-ITL1, panels are connected using very simple interlocking tongue and groove connections. No caulking or hardware is required to connect the panels.
This simplified the installation significantly compared to a glass conference room in the same project. Glass is much heavier and more difficult to handle; in addition, glass requires caulking, resulting in more labor and time.
CAULKING TOP AND BASE CHANNELS
The Zaun Glass team caulked the top and base channels to complete the installation.
Even though the yellow color facings of the Bonded Series panels are completely transparent, there is no need for a privacy film. The honeycomb core provides enough privacy for this application, whether looking at the conference room from an angle, or from a close distance.
For people inside the conference room, the panels allow views to the surrounding space, providing a feeling of openness and connection so vital for a healthy workplace experience.
Installation of Panelite Honeycomb panels is much simpler compared to glass or resin panels.
– Panels are 70% to 80% air and extremely lightweight. Handling is very easy.
– Panels can be installed using off the shelf channel. Expensive and complex custom extrusions or framing systems are not required. Panels can be trimmed on site using simple woodworking tools.
– With prefabricated interlocking joints (ClearConnect System), vertical seam glazing is not required.
